Every blockchain ecosystem is climbing the same tech tree — researching one tier at a time, most branches leading nowhere, a few wonders that actually win. This draws the whole board: four trunks, five tiers each, three prizes at the crown, and eleven real chains graded against it.

The rule underneath it is uncomfortable. Users only stick around a demand sink — a product they’d be genuinely upset to lose — and crypto has found very few of them. Almost everything else an ecosystem does is, on this reading, a way of coping with not owning one.
