29. Marketing Must Deliver More Than It Asks

Trust grows when each interaction supplies more expected benefit than customer cost.

Original sketch for chapter 29: marketing value

Buyers know less than sellers and cannot easily distinguish an honest promise from an inflated one. Meanwhile, every step asks them to risk money, time, effort, data, or reputation. Because losses loom larger than equivalent gains, customers leave whenever the requested investment overtakes the value they can already see.

Audit the journey as a running value balance. Teach, demonstrate, entertain, or provide a useful result before asking for a form, meeting, migration, or payment. Increase commitment only as evidence and trust accumulate; a large early ask spends credibility the company has not earned.
