36. B2C Is Winner-Take-All; B2B Is a Long Tail
Consumer markets concentrate through scale and conformity; business variation supports many niches.

Cheap consumer products need scale, and consumers’ tendency to follow one another strengthens network effects, producing a few enormous winners. Businesses seek differentiation and have varied processes, leaving room for many specialized products even when a large incumbent exists.
Choose the risk profile consciously. B2C offers a smaller chance of an extraordinary outcome and often demands mass adoption; B2B offers more niches and a higher chance of a durable company, but usually a lower ceiling. Align capital, growth expectations, and product scope with that structure.
