52. A Founder’s First Job Is Clarity

As the company grows, the founder must replace shared context with explicit alignment.

Original sketch for chapter 52: organizational clarity

Inside one founder’s head, product, marketing, finance, and strategy share context instantly. Separate those functions across people and individually sound projects can pull in opposite directions. The founder or CEO becomes the organization’s coordinating brain: foggy priorities produce wasted work at scale.

First make the strategy and constraints precise, then communicate them repeatedly at the level each team needs. Confirm understanding instead of assuming it. This “micro-communication” is not doing everyone’s job; it is making sure their independent work reinforces the same outcome.
