tweet every day. no one's watching, which is the blessing

Every cohort I run, the first thing I see is founders posting on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is job people. Not thought leaders. Nobody there has an original thought they’re testing in public. There’s a two month lag between something being said on Twitter and the listicle showing up on LinkedIn.

The best minds in the world are on Twitter. That’s where the VCs are, the unicorn founders, the people who’ll hire you or buy from you. A reply from Elon or from the head of Sequoia is possible there. It’s not possible anywhere else. Unicorn founders in India spend one to three hours a day on it. Ask any of them.

So: one post a day. Minimum. It can be good morning. It can be what you ate. Don’t plan it, don’t run it through GPT, just open the app and post what’s in your head. It’s a journal, not a campaign.

The reason to start now is that no one is watching. Your account is small. This is a gift. Once you’re big, every post has to be thought about. Right now you can be raw, wrong, and learning for free. By the end of three months you should be able to post your real thoughts without flinching. That’s the skill.

And post from your own handle. Not a brand account. Nobody follows a brand. They follow the founder. An intern running your company handle is a disaster waiting to happen. Can I see you on my timeline twice a week? If a potential client has seen your face on their feed three times before you DM them, the DM lands differently.

One more thing. Retweeting is the laziest thing you can do. Reply instead. Start a conversation in public. That’s where friends get made. I’ve been on Twitter since 2009 and for ten years nothing happened. Then I found a subject and it blew up. Now I can reach anyone. That’s what you’re building.

the call where i said it best

A Nitro founder had a product doing 250 to 300k a week in rewards. Nobody knew. I asked him if Keone had heard about it. He hadn’t. When another founder in the cohort changes his underwear, Keone knows about it. You can’t just make the news. You have to pump the news.

do this this week

Post once a day for seven days. Send me the links. I’ll tell you what’s working.

the line to remember

none of your accounts are big so no one is watching, which is a great thing. right now just go post whatever you feel like and that’s a blessing actually.
